Description

Islay SweetMalt pellets are based on nutritious co-products from Diageo’s Port Ellen Maltings on the island of Islay.

Carefully selected varieties of barley are processed in the Maltings for use in the production of Islay’s unique Single Malt whiskies.  The co-products from this malting process are combined with a high sugar molasses blend to produce a light brown 9 mm pellet.

The inclusion of the molasses ensures that the product is palatable to farm livestock and will provide a valuable source of fermentable sugars.

Feeding

Islay SweetMalt is palatable and is suitable as an ingredient in a blend or home mixed feed.

Ideal for suckler cows, sheep, youngstock or any other ruminants.

Trial work at SAC has shown that the palatability of Port Ellen malt residuals can be increased by the inclusion of molasses.  This has been supported by anecdotal evidence from feeding trials on Islay farms.

Islay SweetMalt is ideal for use in traditional beef feeding systems based on locally produced draff.

As with all feedingstuffs, introduce gradually over 7-14 days.
