Soya. Prices have shot up in the last few days. Reasons for this are poorer exchange rate, increased sales, fund buying, but South American weather has improved slightly. Current spot prices are at their highest level since last September.
Brazilian soya harvest has already started, with 24% harvested in Mato Grosso compared to 12% at the same time last year. This time of year we normally start seeing problems with logistics in South America with port strikes etc. This week a vessel has crashed in the port of Santos causing damage to 2 ship loaders, so this is causing loading delays. It's hard to predict where prices are going from here. It's still probably a good idea to book some of your requirements at current prices.
Rapemeal. There is still a general shortage of rapemeal for Feb delivery & this is keeping the nearby prices high. Mar & Apr prices are also trading at a premium, with prices not dropping until the May/July delivery period. If you need any material for the rest of this winter, we suggest you take your cover now.
Soya Hulls Prices have risen slightly over the last week, but are still looking good value for the summer and next winter.
Crimped Maize & Crimped Wheat We have supplies of material for delivery anywhere in the country (including Scotland & Northern Ireland). We can supply either product or you could have a 50:50 mix. Please ring us for prices for delivery to your farm.
Misc. The Feeds Marketing straights department can offer a range of miscellaneous products at competitive prices. This includes protected fats, minerals and buckets, please call your straights trader for prices. Feed grade urea currently available in 1 pallet drops at a price of £491/t.
